Tools for Mindful Teaching &
Parenting
This interactive and innovative workshop will introduce three different approaches
to mindfulness that teachers and parents can use with children to help them
deal with difficulties and live happier lives.
Mindfulness and Mindful Learning
with Ross Bernay
Mindfulness provides a way of being that helps individuals keep stress under
control in our crazy world. Mindfulness is being totally present in each moment
with focused awareness and compassion. This way of being also becomes a way
of knowing and learning new things. Teachers and parents can use mindfulness
for themselves, but it is a valuable tool for guiding children’s learning
and development. These strategies can be adapted for children as young as three
years old
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
(ACT)
with Elizabeth Maher
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, known as 'ACT' is mindfulness based cognitive
behavioural therapy (CBT) with major emphasis on values, forgiveness, acceptance,
compassion, living in the present moment, and accessing a transcendent sense
of self. The goal of ACT is to create a rich and meaningful life, while accepting
the pain that inevitably goes with it, and taking effective action guided by
our deepest values and in which we are fully present and engaged.
